Prison services

Prior to the scheduled date of appearance of the detainee in the court, the detainee was informed about the date of his appearance and arrangements were made for the detainee to appear in the court on the scheduled date of appearance.


Once a prisoner is convicted by a lower court, a prisoner who is unable to appeal in person to a higher court may have to go to jail once. Moreover, the government legal aid panel arranges for the appointment of lawyers for the poor and helpless prisoners who cannot hire lawyers personally.


Relatives of the detainee can purchase goods / products from the outside prison canteen and send them in the name of the detainee through the prison authorities. Prisoners can personally purchase the required approved goods / products from the prison canteen with the money deposited in their personal cash (PC).


Inside the prison, relatives of the prisoner can deposit money in the prisoner's PC to purchase the necessary goods / products from the canteen. After depositing the money, a receipt is issued to each depositor and the money deposited in the name of the prisoner is deposited in the prisoner's PC.


The power of attorney of the prisoner has to be submitted in a box kept outside. Submission is to be made directly to the deputy jailor in charge. After receiving the signature of the concerned prisoner in the power of attorney, it is again returned to the person submitting the power of attorney.


Prisoners are given various types of vocational training according to their interest and skills for the purpose of transformation of prisoner's hand into prisoner's hand and employment of prisoner.


Various motivational, constructive and welfare activities are undertaken for the prisoners including providing religious and moral education and counseling, sports and cultural recreation to alleviate the criminal tendency, frustration etc. of the prisoners.


The products produced through prisoner training and rehabilitation activities are sold to the public at a fixed profit.


Sub-formal education services are provided through prison teachers to help illiterate prisoners to become literate and enlightened people.


Prisoners who wish to participate in SSC or other board or university examinations are given the opportunity to participate in examinations in prisons subject to the approval of the appropriate authorities.
